Birthday fun

This isn’t a great picture because it was off my phone and I didn’t even think about doing a video – duh!
This week was my Grand-daughter Darrians’ birthday (11 – hokey crap!) and her Daddy’s too. We went out for dinner last night and at the end as the wait-staff were singing – they both had to stand on their chairs and do actions. I love these guys, what good sports they were.

There may have been a small zoo of Webkinz on the table and a sock monster. The pattern is by Heather of Joey’s House

Happy Birthday to a couple of very special people.

Birthday news

There will be none of that talk about numbers here today – you hear! But we do want to spread the word that one of our favourite people is having a special day today. It is Cari’s birthday!!!
We love our Cari, she has the most wicked sense of humour – and fast – boy she just comes out with those one liners so fast there may be some p-ing of pants.
And memory – do not go up against her in a song memory game – she can sing you lines from some of the most obscure songs. And we have checked and she is right too!
We are so lucky to have her on our SWK team but we are blessed to be able to call her friend.

We Love you lots

Thursday, December 24th (or commonly called Christmas Eve)

Well – its here!  Doesn’t matter if both socks are done or if you baked enough cookies – Christmas is here.  I want to wish everyone a lovely, warm Christmas with family and loved ones.  I hope you have lots of love and laughs.

We have the kids and grandkids and sister-in-law and all their dogs coming for the night.  I think the cat will take up permanent residence under the bed, she is NOT going to be impressed!  She thinks it’s bad enough having people in her house (she tolerates us) but DOGS!!!  So for counting, we have Zena (Shih Tzu/ Yorkie cross) and my daughter is bringing Zena’s brother.  My Son-in-law is bringing his Chocolate Lab.  Sister-in-law is bringing her teacup Poodle.  And then Son and new Daughter-in-law are bringing their new dog – Beagle/Jack Russel/Terrier cross.  Yup, my life is going to the dogs.

But it will be great – I love jammie time with my kids all around – gives me warm smooshies.

And with 2 Grand-kids – hanging the stockings is very important.  So to tie in with that we are going to have all sock yarn as our item of the day – both at the shop in New Hamburg and at the booth in St. Jacobs.  Don’t forget the secret word “TURKEY” and you’ll save 15%

Friday, December 11th

louet-kits.jpg  Louet kits – hows that for fun!  We have drop spindle or hand dyeing kits – hmmm Christmas ideas anyone?

and the secret word is “WREATH”

AND NOW – TADUMMM – May I present the new couple (and note the girls sweaters all done and dry before the wedding)

now for happy news

Let me introduce you to Mr. & Mrs. C!

This happy event happened on October 10th and we are thrilled to have Ruthie as part of our family.  She makes my boy very happy – what more could a Momma want?

my shadow

angus-my-flower.jpg  I introduced you all to my shadow (otherwise known as Angus) a while ago.  This picture showed him bringing me a flower one morning.  Angus has been my constant companion and shadow for 11 years and he’s gone.  A few days after Lillibit died Angus seemed to go into a depression and when we took him to the vets we got the bad news that he was actually in kidney failure and the depression had just accelerated it.  So on Thursday, October 8th Angus was gone.

When we were first moving to New Hamburg, our son Kyle insisted that if we were moving him away from all his friends then he should be able to have one of Lillibit’s puppies as his own.  So Angus started life as Kyle’s sidekick but as usually happens - kids get busy – so Angus and I became a pair.  Angus had enough love that both Kyle & I felt that we were his favorite.  Angus was my shadow, he would follow me to the washroom, wait at the top of the stairs if I was doing laundry in the basement, followed me up and down and around no matter what I was doing.  Angus thought he was my guard dog – as long as he could be doing the guarding and barking from behind me.  He had the most loving eyes and was a major cuddler – his favorite spot to sleep was between my pillow and the headboard.  His best friend was our cat Millie – she is a little lost too.

I miss him – how do you say good-bye to your shadow?

bye

Our darling “Queen of the House” passed away quietly last Friday at the Veterinarian.  She was 15 years old and was shutting down, so it was time.  She had lost a significant amount of weight (if that can be said for a dog that only weighs 11 lbs), had laboured breathing and her heart was beginning to struggle (they had a hard time getting a catheter in a vein because her circulatory system was so weak).  She was also displaying the signs of dementia.  It’s only been the last couple of days where we saw that she was starting to suffer – and it came on very quickly.

She was a lovely companion to us over the years and brought many joys (and some surprises!).  She loved to run the beach and chase seagulls – she could never quite catch them for some reason.  She also lived up to her “Lion Dog” (Shih Tzu) reputation by taking after a pair of Dobermans next door once and lived to tell the tale.  Despite that, she absolutely adored people – the smaller the better – she loved kids.  She had 4 litters of her own – and they are all great dogs, spread out all over the place.  We have two of them here with us (Angus and Zena).  They will miss her.  So will we.  Very much.

We love you “Squirt”, now go get those Seagulls!

wheels part 2

We’ve got our Grand-kids visiting for the week and last night Poppa (Tom) had a bike practice – so we went to watch.  He is on a precision motorcycle team that does shows occasionally but also meet weekly to practice and hone their skills.

The team is made up of 8 Honda Gold Wing Motorcycles – all riding at the same time – sort of like sychronized swimming.  It’s kind of scary to watch (well more than a little scary) but really cool.  And it has definitely made Tom a better rider.  Needless to say the kids had a few WOWS and there were a couple of sucked in breaths when the bikes came close.  They do interlinking circles and weaving in and out and …. crazy!

a new baby

What is better than a new baby?  Even a horsey baby – they are all lovely!  Our friends Fred & Maria own Sonview Farms and this is Mama Hazel with her 10 hour old Filly.  Welcome little one.
