You have to love a small town! There are so many reasons but one of the biggest is that people go out of their way for each other. Right from the first mention of my opening my shop – local people, other shop owners, friends, strangers have all been so supportive. There is no way I could have done this without that support.
The support from my family has been amazing! My guys are my heroes, the man hours that were put into this shop were overwhelming. Just the encouragement to follow my dream leaves me speechless…
Friends…I don’t even have words to say how much I appreciate all their help and just being there for me.
And the help from others downtown has been so great! They have been willing to answer my questions (lots) and give me words of advice or just buck me up when it was going slow.
OK, off the soapbox! The Tshirts are here! Personally delivered by Larry who made them for me. We have a nightshirt in Pink and 2 different tshirts – one is a cotton/poly blend with 3/4 sleeves and the other one is 70% bamboo and 30%cotton with short sleeves. They come in a variety of colours and 3 different sayings.

Now I just need to figure out how to display them!

T-shirts are in! Well not quite in, they are done and in town and I just need to pick them up. So almost in! These are knitters t-shirts in a couple of different sayings and styles and colours…what a great Christmas idea!
I’ll post some pics as soon as I get my hands on them.

Got a couple of really fun things happening this week!
Thursday, November 29 we are doing a demonstration on the LK150 knitting machine. If you thought you knew what this machine can do – you’ve never seen Cari do her magic! This is a free drop in demo from 7-9.
This Friday (November 30) is the official lighting of the tree in town. This is the big tree that you can buy lights for and they turn it on during a carol sing this Friday. We are going to do a Knit&Chat that evening. What could be better – lights, carolling and some knitting?
Sunday will be our first of 3 Sundays that I will be open from 1-4. Do a bit of shopping, a bit of visiting and sit and knit for a while.
NEWS! This is new – coming on Saturday, December 8th we will be hosting a demo on the knitting computer programs – Sweater Wizard and Sock Wizard. If you want to see what these programs can do before you treat yourself, come on in and see Kara take this program to a whole new level.

I redid all the bookshelves last week (and if I do say so they look mighty nice), moved binders of leaflets and magazines to a new (and better) spot and relocated all the baby books. And just as I’m catching my breath in come more.
We’ve got two calendars that would make wonderful gifts for a knitter you know or yourself! Stitch & Bitch looks like fun and then there is 365 Knitting Stitches a Day – love them!

Clara Parkes has hit a home run with her “Knitters Book of Yarn“. When I was at Rhinebeck in October, Clara was there autographing her book, so I have been reading it and it is one of those books every knitter should have on their shelf.

And then there is Nicki Epstein – I still love her “Knitting on the Edge” book but her new “Knitting Never Felt Better” is right up there. It is seductive in the photography as well as the projects. Felting (once you get past the initial horror) is a blast – and Nicki in her usual way just ups the bar. There is a felted Christmas tree out of Jolie angora that I think will be on the needles today. If this is the one book you buy this season – you won’t be disappointed.
Ok, I’m off to read…

I did a book order last week and they came in and then they came in and then they came in again! I have totally redone the bookshelves, had to make room for all their new friends. There are some amazing books out!
Stitch&Bitch has a new book – Son of Stitch & Bitch – it has some great guy patterns for guys to knit or to knit for your guy.
These are a few more that came in as well. I could just sit and peruse these books all day.

Good news – Morehouse yarns are gorgeous, love to knit with them, love how they feel, love the colours, adore the book…you get the idea?

I’ve always said that they were my favorite shop (until I opened mine and then they were second but still love them). I’m knitting the Landscape Shawl out of their 3ply and it is so gorgeous – I had to rip and then the needle got on another project but we’re back on track again. Hoping to have it done soon, can’t wait to wear it.
Bad news – Morehouse now has an online shop! Why is this bad news you ask? Well, they still do all their own sheep and sheep can only grow fleece so fast and we know how big the internet is…so Morehouse has decided that they can no longer sell to shops and are even closing their shop so they can handle the internet stuff properly. I understand the logic behind their decisions – you can only spread yourself so thin before everything starts to suffer. So, this means that the Morehouse I have in the shop will be the end of it.
Good news – we’ve decided that since I won’t be able to get any more that we are going to put all Morehouse product on sale at 20% off. There is still some lace weight as well as a few kits and the 2 and 3 ply. When it’s gone – it’s gone but I guess that is bad news!

PLUS
EQUALS
This is a Shibori scarf, and this is Monica, she did hers in Malbrigo – and it was amazing

I did mine in the Mirasol Hacho. Slightly different look but fun all the same. I tied bottle tops with elastics all over the knitted piece and then felted it. What was tied tight couldn’t felt so only what was around it did. It really does create an interesting effect.

I went off today with a friend to the Diamond open house and sale. Diamond is one of the big yarn distributors in Canada and they carry a LOT!!! I went with a short shopping list and came home with a full car. It is amazing what you can fit into a VW. I found some more books and got some needles and stocked up on more Online Tessa (it’s a lovely superwash in a worsted weight).
BUT some Noro followed me home! I don’t know how it happened but all of a sudden there was all this Silk Garden DK and Kureyon just crying to come home with me. I’m a sucker for a crying yarn – so I guess I will be doing some major rearranging this week. But the colours…
