I guess it’s been a while since I posted – oops! My life the last couple of weeks has been all divided into “Frolic” and “after Frolic”. I’m into “after Frolic” mode now. Trying to get all kinds of bits and odds done. That includes unpacking from the Frolic and of course I can’t just put it back where it was, I have to rearrange it. But the problem with that is then I start playing with the yarns and want to start something new – but must be strong and finish something.
News – I found the most amazing buttons! I am ordering them to be in this summer, I got one set for my little red cardi and can’t wait to see what you all think of them. They are fused glass – just lovely!
I’ve been working on Queen of the Waves by Ilga Leja out of Noro sock yarn. The jury is still out as far as this yarn goes for socks but for shawls – WOW!
Now I’m working my head around Woolly Thoughts coming in 12 days and Sally’s Closet fashion show just after.
I have pictures to show you of things but camera is here and mount is at home. When I’m at home Tom is madly working on getting all the pictures for Sally’s silent auction onto the website. I guess I need to bring the camera mount to the shop with me.

I am having so much fun talking to everyone about what is going on here. I think some people are thinking “shut up already” but there is so much to talk about. It’s kind of like my little dog the other day. I have 3 small Shih Tzu/Yorkie cross’ and I took Angus the male to get his haircut for spring. When I brought him home at the end of the day, Zena (the youngest, she’s only 8 yrs. old) just kept talking. She always does a little when I come home, but this day she talked as I put them out and then when I let them in and then as I was checking messages, getting changed, making a sandwich to take on the road. She just kept talking, and it wasn’t barking – it was talking – to me. It was like she hadn’t been able to talk to Angus all day so she had to make up for lost time – and did she have stories! Some days you might meet Zena in the shop – she is very polite and gentle and comes with me occasionally.
Woolly Thoughts is going to be a blast! I’ve talked to another Karen from New York state and someone from Michigan and then there are the local knit fanatics – WOW! I’ve just ordered some of their books – can’t wait to see them.
Ok, back to work, we have a sock class tonight and my homework isn’t done which is really bad for the teacher.

You know it’s weird - I don’t work on Monday, then when I open on Tuesday it feels like my Monday. But I was at the shop for 5 or 6 hours yesterday doing paperwork, so now I really don’t know what day it is.
BUT – I know that tonight is Guild night. So I guess I better get to work on the newsletters and info about all thats going on at the shop. And the nice thing is that it is total knitting time – there never seems to be much of that lately.

lots of stuff in the planning stages, here’s a few highlights – all info will be posted shortly.

1) Woolly Thoughts – how cool is their website? We want to give them a great Canadian welcome and be seduced by their math & knitting so spread the word. Sunday, May 11th – I know it’s Mothers Day but they are only in Canada a couple of days. $50

2) Sally & her sweaters – we are doing a silent auction for 6 weeks with samples from Sally Melville’s books. We are kicking this off with a Gala Fashion Show (need a name for the event) with models wearing the garments and then they will be on display for silent auction until June 28th. A portion of proceeds is going to Heart & Stroke Foundation. There will be noshies. Tickets are $5 and all of that goes to H&S.

3) WWKIP – thats World Wide Knit in Public Day – Saturday June 14th. We will be hosting the Giant Knitting Contest. We are doing this as a Breast Cancer Fundraiser, so get your teams of 3 together and then get pledges per stitch. We will have the forms shortly. We are hoping to knit a large pink ribbon that can be auctioned off later.
Pass the word

You have got to go to Woolly Thoughts and see what they do! And the really cool thing – they are coming here! They are coming to visit Debbie New and will be doing a talk and class at the shop on Sunday, May 11th. Wow – can you imagine a room with Woolly Thoughts and Debbie New? I’m in awe.
