I did it! I ordered Maruca bags yesterday – they should be here next week. And it is all Sally Melville’s fault! She was out to the shop with one a couple of weeks ago and I have been drooling over them since. I can’t get the pictures to load properly so you will just have to go to their website or else wait till next week to see them. Now the problem is which one should follow me home?
Yesterday was a blast! We had roughly 40 people show up and with the Giant Needle pledges, the silent auction and donations we raised just under $900!! Not bad for our first year – just wait till next year.
I will post pictures of the knitting and stuff later when I can focus. Now I’m off to get my guys moving, off to Church and then to my parents for Fathers Day BBQ – more pandemonium!
Last night was the KW Knitters Guild adjudicated show. As usual there was no end to the talent and the creativity. We have some awesome knitters in the guild, if you have never come you really should. We are done for the summer but will be starting again in September. There is all kinds of info on the KWKG site.
Heather (our President) unfortunately wasn’t able to make it because of a seriously ill hubbie. Word is they are getting a handle on it and hoping he will be home soon. But Cari our incoming president came (she had a health scare last week as well – wasn’t a good week) and had a chat with Stephanie (the Yarn Harlot) and was able to do the official greeting thing.
And this is Janelle. She is affectionately called my babysitter because she has taken time from her job to babysit my shop a couple of times – which I really appreciate. She also (among her many other jobs) does an online book review – mostly knitting – Eclectic Closet
I have a few more pictures but I will do it as a separate post so I don’t screw up what I have already done. Don’t ask…
So, I felt sorry for myself most of the weekend, even yesterday but all is right in the world again today. On Saturday J came and babysat the shop so Tom and I could go for a bike (motorcycle) ride 2hrs to buy myself a consulation purse. You can never go wrong with a new bag. So we had a lovely ride, got there 1/2 hr. before she closed and it was CLOSED!!! So – another poop!
So we had another ride, stopped for dinner and came home.
But I had seen the bags in the window – they are wonderful. I have already sent away for the catalogue so will be ordering some shortly. Some will make great diaper bags and some will make wonderful knitting bags or some will just look pretty. And sometimes that is all we need of a bag.
And I got an email the nice shop owner, she was sorry but had to go home early because she was sick and then she proceeded to tell me that she had bid on something of Sally’s. So it’s really a good thing I didn’t send a snarky note like my first reaction told me to. I don’t usually, but I was just in a mood. And if I had I would have offended a knitter – that is never good – we knitters have to stick together, especially if we have good taste in purses as well.
So we headed off this morning 10am and now it is 10pm and I’m at home. Had a long day of driving and getting no where. My car decided it wanted to do funny things with the oil light and noises and even after we filled the oil and then stopped and had it looked at by a mechanic (couldn’t find anything wrong) the lights and beeping are still going.
So the decision was made to take it as a sign – go home! So we did!
So I guess I have some free time this weekend, J is still going to babysit the shop tomorrow afternoon so I think T and I will go play somewhere. But where – I don’t do well with spur of the moment.
No, I’m not excited – why would you say that??? You know it really feels like I’m leaving my baby. I’m writing lists for Janelle (the babysitter) even though I know she’ll be wonderful. But it’s my baby and will she be ok without me?
Anyways, I did a bit of pre-packing last night. I never pack till the last minute cause I just repack anyways so why do it to myself. The biggest question is what knitting to bring with me. There won’t be much time but you know…
The sweater that was maybe going to come with me is having a time out for the weekend. I was going to do part of it on the knitting machine and was so concentrating on making sure I got the handknit part done that I didn’t do the machine gauge at the right tension and no time to do another one and let it rest 24 hours. So luckily Cari talked me back in off the ledge and we decided that it wanted to be what it should be and not McGyvered together in a rush.
I’m about to switch purses – thats big! You have to have just the right purse, not too heavy but big enough to carry the important stuff. Also I’ll be carrying a book bag for all the info and LOOT! So really don’t want two large bags. My Mom and Daughter came down to join me today for a visit and lunch and that solved my dilemma of which bag to use. In March for Tara’s birthday I bought her a lovely sling bag from Roots
(she loved it which is always nice with a gift) and she kindly offered to lend it to me. So now I can empty one purse into the other and that is one more job off the list for the evening.
I will be bringing my laptop so you can live vicariously through K and I this weekend.
