Well, actually everywhere a sock yarn, lots of sock yarns have come in. I got 2 different deliveries in today and both of them had sock yarn in.

Trekking – oh wow! They have a Hand Art sock yarn. These are 2 of the colours – 462 yds. per skein. And in the same box was some of the new colours of Trekking – mmm.
And, in that box was the Skacel Lace Merino that now comes in a multi colour with 1375 yds.

We (Carolyn of Main Street Yarns and me) have just booked the spot for our Brandon Mably workshop. It is perfect! It’s in Elora (1/2 way between both shops) and is amazing! I drove over and got a tour this morning and I wanted to stay right then and there. It’s a B&B but so much more. It is Drew House and we can even book rooms for anyone who wants to come the night before or stay the night after.
This is going to fill fast!

I actually have a few things finished. I’m hooked on Cat Bordhi’s New Pathways way of doing socks. And the fact that she starts you with the baby socks to try out the techniques is just so great. So the pink sock was from our basic toe up on 2 circulars sock class and it’s out of On Your Toes Bamboo – lovely yarn. The other socks were all from New Pathways – out of Classic Elite Alpaca Sox. Really a nice yarn to knit with.

This is out of Interweave Knits Spring 08, I even did it out of the yarn that it called for – The Terra Collection Sky – an organic cotton. It was nice to knit with and I’m not usually a big cotton fan and it didn’t split on me. Ignore the bad picture. This is the picture in the magazine.

We’ve had to make a change to our drop spindle class, summer schedules are bizarre! Anyways, next Thursday, August 31 we will be taught how to put the little piece of wood together with some rovings and make our own wool. Imagine!

Have you seen the newest Knitters yet? It has a couple of Jane Sowerby’s shawls in it – gorgeous! I’ve just gotten in some back issues of last summers Knitters that had the lovely shawl that is pictured below. In that issue it showed it in 2 versions – one was done with Jojoland Harmony (which I have just reordered) and the other one was done in Twisted Sisters Silk for two rows and then two rows of mohair and then you use the mohair for the lace ruffle after. I’ve just started that one and what a lovely summer project. The main part is all garter stitch and when you have done enough garter stitch that you want to poke your eyes out with your needle you get the reward or the lace edging.

How pretty is this? If you have a chance stop in the shop and try this pretty girl on. Linda is teaching this class in September – it is just one medallion that you do over & over in different colours. But can you imagine it in one colour?

These were a gift from Tom this week. How can it be 25 years? And how does this wonderful man still amaze me, surprise me and keep me on my toes after all that time. Here’s to the next 25, and who better to spend it with.

So this was the reason we went to South Carolina. Tom is on a precision motorcycle drill team and they were performing at Windding – which is a big Goldwing bike show. They have a team of 8 who do scary things on big bikes.

NEWS! Rowan month is going to be moved to October – so August will be Elizabeth Zimmerman month. With holidays I never got my head around a special Rowan event and sale – so it’s coming in October and that will tie in with Brandon coming for the workshop.
But in lieu of that we are putting ALL Needful yarns and books on sale at 30% off .
