In case I missed telling you, tomorrow (Friday) is our first afternon Knit & Chat. We’ve been doing K&Cs on Friday evenings since we started. But as of this week we are starting from 1:00 on. Bring your knitting and come and sit for a few minutes or for a few hours.

Have I told you how blessed I am by knowing some amazingly talented people? I had ordered a flower arrangement to take to the Knitters Fair from Stephanie of Gethsemane Gardens and suggested some yarn in it. She outdid herself, even Ilga Leja thought so the next day when we had a workshop the next day. Check out her blog entry.

I just looked at the date of the last blog entry – I guess it’s been awhile (to say the least). But lots has been happening here. Now there’s an understatement!
The Fair last weekend was a riot, it was so great to see everyone out. The atmosphere at the Fair is always so cool. Where else can you be in such a large crowd and still not feel like you’re in a crowd? Strangers become friends while standing together in booths checking out what each other has bought. Then ask where they got it and have to go buy something on a strangers recommendation. The knit wear that was wandering was amazing! Where else can you fondle a complete stranger and get smiled at instead of slapped? It is one of those days that at the end of the day you are totally exhausted (both vendors and buyers) but totally happy. What a buzz!
And as if that wasn’t enough to put my weekend over the top – the next day we had the incomparable Ilga Leja for a brunch workshop. There were a bunch of light bulb moments throughout the class – thats for sure. I’m working on one of her patterns now and have the next one lined up – yarn and all.

I have had Lady of the Forest almost since she first designed it and have been waiting for the right yarn to talk to me. I guess it was just waiting for Ilga and her samples to be in the shop – Mirasol Hacho has a bunch of new colours and one of them said that it’s the one. I wound the yarn but haven’t cast it on yet – but soon… And I’ve stocked up on a bunch of her patterns.
And then there’s the Market! The last few days we’ve been setting up and tomorrow is our first day at the St. Jacobs Farmers Market – still have a few things to tweak but please stop by and see us.
Finally, I have the joy of announcing another addition to our Shall We Knit? family. Cari has joined our team, you will be seeing her at both locations and I am thrilled to be working with her. She is otherwise known as our knitting machine guru, what she can do on a machine is magic. But she’s no slouch with the knitting needles either. Any questions – she can solve them. Come on out and say hi.

You have it marked on your calendars – RIGHT? It’s one week today until the KW Knitters Fair! Don’t forget we’ll be closed that day and be sure and stop by and say hi at our booth at the Fair. I’m not sure where we are but there are 2 rooms of vendors this year – over 70 different places to tempt you with all of its fibery goodness.

And as if that wasn’t enough excitement for one weekend, the next day is Ilga Leja’s Glorious Garter class. And there a still a couple of openings for the Brunch workshop with Ilga.

I don’t know about you but I get lost in Ravelry. I go in to look for one thing and come up for air hours later. The rabbit trails…oh the rabbit trails. I also don’t understand how to use some of the features, I know it’s easy but I am just not computer savvy.
The good news is that we are having a class on Saturday to help walk you through it. Janelle is doing this class and she is going to knock our socks off with what we didn’t know!
