Dang – why does our country have to be so wide? I’m hoping to go to Sock Summit in August but it’s all the way to Oregon! I first thought road trip! Tom will use any excuse to go somewhere on his bike and then I checked where Oregon is. For some reason I had a total geography brain fart. I was saying Oregon and thinking Ohio.
Now Ohio is a great distance for a road trip – Oregon – not so much. So now I’m thinking plane. But is it better to fly from Hamilton or Toronto to BC and then rent a car and drive down or drive to Buffalo and fly to Portland?? I guess some research is in order.
I already have my hotel booked – has been since like day 2 of the COMING Sock Summit – and that was back in October.
Have you looked at the teachers that are going to be there? I don’t think I would have the nerve to pull out my socks in front of them – WOW – there will be no oxygen in Portland from all of us hyperventilating. I can’t wait to see what classes are available. I just want to sit in on anything with BARBARA WALKER!!!

May I present Triinu from Knitted Lace of Estonia. It is out of Shelridge Farms Lace and knit by Linda – in a stupidly short amount of time. She totally rocks!

How cute is this? This is the February Baby Sweater that we are doing as a class this weekend. Can you believe this pattern was first published in 1974. It is from Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Knitter’s Almanac

This is the class from last night – Backyard Leaves by Annie Modesitt. This is a truly beautiful piece of leafy lace and a bit of a challenge that these ladies are well on their way to conquering.
This is the chart – pretty funky eh?

Ok, here is the youngest Friday night Knit & Chat-erer, This is Ninja Baby proudly modelling the Baby Surprise Jacket that is going to be a class next week. It wasn’t really his colour but he was adorable anyways.
I told you we went to Koigu and Shelridge – didn’t I? Well here is part of the fruits of that visit. This is the Koigu and the smaller skeins in the basket are Koigu orphans. When they get to the end of a colour run they bag the part skeins so when I go I grab a couple of bags and you never know what you will be getting.
Like I said mmmm

While Lynne was teaching Toe up Socks in the front room, Tabi was teaching spinning in the main room. What a lot of fun.
And then to top it off, Janelle came out and we sat and knit in the back corner. Lovely evening.

This is a picture of Lynne’s Toe-Up Sock class tonight. Everyone got up past the heel and there was no poking anyone with their circular needles.

Well it was! It was here somewhere, and it still it but that Wascally Wabbit Lynne has done her magic. The shop is getting ready for spring. In our hearts it is spring, and judging by the emerging piles of doggy..oh don’t go there. But I really think spring is right around the corner. (she says ohhh so optimistically)
So with that in mind there has been some rearranging going on. It all started with a trip to Koigu and Shelridge Farms. We restocked some of each and then the Koigu that was at the Market has come home. So it is all happy and reunited in one spot – and it does look lovely if I do say so myself. I forgot to take a picture so will later.
Then some new spring yarns came in and you can’t just put those out. You need to move a bunch of other things and that leads to moving some other things and…
So when you come in you have the joy of discovery (you like that slant?)
