I love my job (and can I really call it a job?) in so many ways and for so many reasons.
I love that I get to find out about new babies almost as soon as the new Mama’s do. And then I get to meet those new people.
I love the excitement when someone learns something new. That is one of the totally amazing things about knitting. No matter how long you have been knitting there is always something new to learn. Have you seen Cat Bordhi’s new Youtube video on SSK? If you haven’t you have to go see it – you will never again have woosey SSKs. And then read Carolyns blog and see her pics about this – so cool!
I love that I have met Mrs. Kinsie. She used to be one of the owners of the Kinsie Yarn shop change. Kinsie Wool was the first yarn shop that I worked in and one of the reasons I was sure that I would someday have my own. They helped to build my dream.
I love that customers have become friends. And that they sometimes bring me gifts.

I love…to be continued…

I think the ladies over at the post office were getting tired of seeing me. I have been haunting the post office the last week or so. But it was worth it. It is here! Sally’s newest book – written with Caddy (her daughter).

I should be working on the April newsletter (and I am) but I thought I would show you a couple of pictures of 2 of our upcoming classes.
Thursday, April 2nd we are doing a Crochet class for Enthusiastic Beginners. Basically you know how to do some of the crochet stitches but don’t understand a pattern – whether it’s in chart form or written out. Well this is the class for you!
Linda will introduce you to the wonders of the crochet stitches. We are going to do a few different stitches in dishcloth cotton. Not only will you be learning how to read your stitches and how to follow a pattern but you will also have the prettiest dishcloths around.
And then on Saturday, April 4th Katherine is going to get more of us hooked on the beaded cuffs. These are such a fun little project and they just finish off an outfit – especially with so many jackets this year having 3/4 sleeves. If you haven’t seen these up close you have to come into the shop and see them. But warning – they are addictive!
Oh, and did I tell you I got more beads in?

The post office didn’t have my book order! I had these lovely plans for this weekend. Me & Sally…I guess I can wait till Monday.
Oh, by the way I am open this Monday (March 23rd) if anyone is around. The province is talking changing Highway 7 as it goes by New Hamburg. So the local Board of Trade is bringing a couple of representatives of the Ministry of Transportation around to as many businesses as possible on Monday. We definitely don’t want this to happen!

We loooove our books and we have a few exciting ones coming into the shop today. Sally Melville’s long awaited next book is here. This is one she has co-written with her daughter Cadi.
If you click on the cover of Sally’s book she gives a lovely explanation on how this book came to be and what it is. I know this is going to be on my personal book shelves as well as a regular restock for the shop. AND Sally will be at the May meeting of the Kitchener-Waterloo Guild!
The other book that is getting some chatter is Knitting and Tea by Jane Gottelier. I think the title says it all.

Well, it’s not raining or melting here (not by a long shot today – it is -14C) but this should be our poster for NH. Keep your fingers crossed for the houses in the flood plains in the next little while as the weather warms up again.

How does someone’s mind work to come up with even just the thought of doing this? Do you just wake up one morning and decide that “that bus looks cold, lets make it a sweater”? The whole article about this is at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/4305406/Knitters-turn-to-graffiti-artists-with-yarnbombing.html
Makes my knitting projects seem definitely do-able.
