I was really glad not to be Cat Bordhi on the weekend (although I would really like to get into her head to see how it works). Cat was doing the judging for the Ruby Red Sock & Tea Cozy contest and it wasn’t easy. I only let her pick one winner in the Tea Cozies and two in the socks.
Cat is such a lovely lady, she took all the socks to her room with her for the weekend and wrote a note for every entry. How nice is that? As far as we’re concerned they are all winners – but the final winners are (in no particular order)
Laura C.
and Mary Jane K.
for socks.
and Jenn W. for tea cozies

I have just spent a very stressful couple of hours trying to register for sock summit. After we all crashed the server and then it looked like everything had sold out that I wanted – they fixed it all and now I’m in!!
I am taking a lecture with BARBARA WALKER!!! How flippin cool is that? And a lace sock class with Anne Hanson and a couple of smaller ones. But those were the 2 I really wanted!

So have you signed up for a Sunday workshop with Cat yet? It’s going to be fun – I know a few from around here are doing the Sunday class.
Here are 2 more cozies – the creativity and talent always amazes me!

Like I said before I am always impressed with people’s creativity. This sock came with a little verse
“Dorothy won’t have any problems finding her way along the yellow brick road with the red poppies.
When it’s time to go home, all Dorothy has to do is a twist of the rib and a whirl of the toe and away she goes.”

Wow, Cat will be here next Friday! It seemed like when we were planning this that it was waaay in the future. Nope – next week! Cat Bordhi will be in the shop at 5 on Friday for her book signing and to judge the Ruby Red Sock Contest. Am I ever glad I don’t have to judge that! Over the next week I am going to post pictures of the tea cozies and socks and you can do your own judging and lets see if we agree with the final outcome. Winners will be announced in the shop at 6pm on Friday and I will post it here as well later that evening.
And I don’t know why but there are still a couple of openings for Cats workshop on the Sunday afternoon. If you are on Ravelry this is the link to the class info http://www.ravelry.com/events/dancing-along-new-pathways . Come on you know you want to take a class with Cat!

So here are the first 2 tea cozies, not in any particular order. The funny thing about these 2 are that they were both done by Sue’s. I don’t think they even know each other but they both had the same idea for their cozies.

So if you skipped the front page of the website or didn’t read the latest newsletter you might not know about our Drawing-a-Blank for World Wide Knit in Public event.
Saturday, June 13th is World Wide Knit in Public (WWKIP) day and we did it last year as a Breast Cancer event and raised over $600! This year we are going to blow the socks (get it – haha) off of those numbers.
So get your Pledge sheets (temporarily you need to call the shop or pop in and I will get one to you) and a team of 3 for the timed knitting contest. We have giant needles – 6 feet tall and we will be timing to see how many stitches you can knit in 5 minutes.
AND we are taking bookings for the 9 a.m. sock blank knitting with Buffy. A sock blank is a knit square of sock weight yarn that you hand paint and then unravel and knit into a sock. You have to be a knitter to get this – I told Tom about this and he didn’t get it.
We are using Buffy’s merino and nylon sock yarn and will have Buffy of Shelridge Farms to help with the painting. The blanks are $20 and all profits are going to Breast Cancer.
This is a couple of the busy sock blank knitters
