Well – its here! Doesn’t matter if both socks are done or if you baked enough cookies – Christmas is here. I want to wish everyone a lovely, warm Christmas with family and loved ones. I hope you have lots of love and laughs.
We have the kids and grandkids and sister-in-law and all their dogs coming for the night. I think the cat will take up permanent residence under the bed, she is NOT going to be impressed! She thinks it’s bad enough having people in her house (she tolerates us) but DOGS!!! So for counting, we have Zena (Shih Tzu/ Yorkie cross) and my daughter is bringing Zena’s brother. My Son-in-law is bringing his Chocolate Lab. Sister-in-law is bringing her teacup Poodle. And then Son and new Daughter-in-law are bringing their new dog – Beagle/Jack Russel/Terrier cross. Yup, my life is going to the dogs.
But it will be great – I love jammie time with my kids all around – gives me warm smooshies.

And with 2 Grand-kids – hanging the stockings is very important. So to tie in with that we are going to have all sock yarn as our item of the day – both at the shop in New Hamburg and at the booth in St. Jacobs. Don’t forget the secret word “TURKEY” and you’ll save 15%

Have you counted the days yet? Scary how fast its coming but if you have any knitters on your list we have something to make them smile (or yourself). Della Q does needle cases in the most gorgeous silk. There is one in red that is so beautiful it just makes me happy. We have cases for interchangeable or just your regular circulars as well as one for sock needles or for accesories. Truly beautiful and organized at the same time – how amazing is that?

And when you come in to get one (or call us) don’t forget to day “RUDOLPH” and save 15%

Row Counters – we have several styles to choose from. How about one that locks so passersby (rotten kids?) don’t add to your row count.
WENCESLAS – can you say that 3 times fast? Thats ok – you only have to say it once to save 15% on Row Counters

Do-over! It’s late and I forgot to take more pictures for the item of the day. So we are re-doing the Carried Away bags again.
And “CINDY LOU WHO” is the secret word again.

So, knitting bags – how many do you have? And are they as cute as these? These are Carried Away bags made by the talented Amy. They have a drawstring on the top and are lined with rip-stop nylon. Amy finds the most amazing prints!
And the secret word is “CINDY LOU WHO” and if you’ve ever seen Amy’s little girl – then this clue makes total sense.

On our list of Knitters gifts that we’ve been showing you this month we have had a lot of tools to help with your knitting. Well today we have something to help make your knitting experience even a little nicer. These wineglasses and mugs are hand painted by Carolyn from Waterloo. They are very pretty and if you say the secret word “FIREPLACE” you will save 15%

What could be better than having your own personal knitting instructor in your living room? Someone who will repeat a little point over and over and over and over until you get it. An instructor who is there at 1:00 in the morning with a class you can attend in your jammies. Can you imagine having Elizabeth Zimmerman, Lucy Neatby, Philosophers or Eunny Jang in your house?
Well the item of the day for Tuesday, December 15th is DVDs. And timing is perfect because it’s also Men’s night. So whisper in their ear what you would like to find in your stocking, then write out the secret word for them (CHARLIE BROWNS CHRISTMAS TREE) and send them on their way.

I don’t know what it’s doing where you are, but around here it has been snowing and blowing and then some more. The kids had a snow day yesterday and it wasn’t much better today. It looks like a good 4 or 5 inches on the deck railing and I can tell you Zena (doggie princess) is NOT impressed with having to go out in that stuff to do her thing!
And what better when its snowing and blowing outside than to cuddle under a quilt and knit with a smaltzy Christmas movie on. MMmm my idea of a good evening. So to help with this scenario we are featuring SOCK yarn!!! How exciting is that? At both the New Hamburg location and the St Jacobs market we are going to give you 15% off any sock yarn if you come and tell us the secret word – “SNOWBOOTS”.
I’m scheduled for the market this weekend so if you’re around – stop and say hi. The SWK team, except me:( will be at the shop in New Hamburg for the HELP day. Bring out your problems and questions in both knitting and crocheting and someone will be happy to help. Besides its always a good time when the team is together.

Back at the beginning of the month when we were first introducing the Featured Item of the Day and the secret word and how it all works – we had a bit of a glitch. For some reason some people couldn’t get onto our website. It had nothing to do with the fact that the web provider had done some upgrades on the weekend – nope, nothing to do with that. But funnily after we complained a few times and they had done “nothing” it worked again – odd isn’t it???
Anyways, there were a couple of items that people couldn’t get because of that so we are doing another one of them again. I like my Soak. I like that it’s Canadian (Toronto even). I like that it is environmentally conscious. I like how nice it smells or not (a bunch of different scents available as well as a non-scented). But I REALLY like that when I am washing my hand knits or delicates I don’t have to stress the item by trying to rinse out all the soap. Yup, this is a no rinse product!
So, come and see us at either of our locations and say the secret word “SCROOGE” and you get to save 15%.
